Marketing – The Essence of every Business

People refer to marketing as advertising and selling. Marketing aims at information, selling, and satisfying customer needs. Modern-day marketing is customer-centric. It begins with market research and revolves around the customer.

Marketing starts even before the product is designed. The product is created by keeping the needs and preferences of the target audience in mind. The concept of marketing has evolved over the years.

Nowadays, digital marketing has replaced traditional marketing. Digital marketing is cost-effective, accurate, measurable, and target the right set of audience.

What is Marketing?

Marketing as the process of getting people interested in your company’s product or service. Marketing pertains to all aspects of a business, including product development, distribution methods, sales, and advertising. – Hubspot

“Make your marketing so useful people would pay for it” – Jay Baer

Marketing Mix

The marketing mix consists of 4P’s

Product:- Goods or services offered by a company to its customers. It is physical goods or intangible services that fulfill customer demand.

Price:- Ideal rate paid by the customer to buy the product. Price is the deciding factor when it comes to supply, demand, and profit margin.

Promotion:- Promoting the features and benefits of the product to your target audience after the product launch. Promotion increases brand awareness. It can be done via online and offline methods.

Place:- Making the product available to customers.

Traditional vs Digital Marketing

Traditional marketing depends on offline methods such as direct sales, television, radio newspapers, magazines, brochures, flyers, billboards, cold calling and word of mouth marketing. It helps to reach a semi-targeted audience.

Traditional marketing is impactful and memorable, on the other hand, it is expensive and there is no direct interaction with the consumer.

Digital marketing relies on digital channels such as social media, email marketing, websites, content marketing, affiliate marketing, inbound marketing, marketing automation, search engine optimization, and pay per click. It also consists of branding, marketing, and lead generation.

Digital marketing has good options to engage with your audience and campaigns can be measured.
